Trio III is the third instalment of my continued exploration of recording in the format of a trio. While this format has obvious limitations, at its best it can feel limitless.

This volume features Eiko Ishibashi and Tatsuhisa Yamamoto. I’ve worked with these two exceptional musicians regularly over the past three years of my time here in Japan and it’s always an inspiring experience.

This is also the third time I’ve had the opportunity to work with my dear friend, the incredible mix/mastering engineer, Joe Talia. Perhaps these projects should be more correctly identified as the work of a “quartet” as Joe’s insights are an integral part of the whole music making process.

This performance is intended to be listened to in one sitting, from start to finish.
